Length check!...well some what LOL

This how long my hair is at the moment.
When I straightened I used an electrical pressing comb and flat iron: Temp 300 degrees.

I am so happy with my hair its strong, I shed a lot less. Going back to natural hair was one of the best choices I've ever made in my short twenty years! My hair has re-thickened from my terrible perm incident I had almost five years ago. KEEP GROWING FOR ME CURLIES!!
-Until next time ladies and gents, stay natural!

Hair Tip #1

Did you know that if you heat up your conditioner "first", then apply for at least 30 minutes. It will give you super soft hair! A must try...

Natural Hair Type Chart

FOR ALL HAIR TYPES
This chart covers:
-Sealing
-Moisturizing
-Detangleing
-Chemicals
-Styling
-Heat

This chart really helped me when it came to sealing. I was using thinner oils like olive oil. I should have been using "butters" because of my coarse hair.

I hope this chart helps you like it did for me. Until next time ladies and gents STAY NATURALLY NATURAL!

FlatTwist pinup on medium length 4c hair

This is a protective style.
NOTE: It is only a protective style if the ends of your hair are tucked away.
-I started on washed, conditioned and detangled hair.
- Separate your bangs and pin them out the way
- starting at the edges just in front of your left/right ear flat twist all of the hair on that side. Do the same on the other side of the head.
-Tuck and pin the ends of the two flat twists at the nape of your neck (above where your spine starts)
- Part your bangs horizontally into two sections. Flat twist them each until you cant twist anymore. Pin and tuck into the flat twist you did just in front of the ear.
DONE! An easy five minute protective style. Until next time ladies and gents STAY Natural!

Two Strand Twist-OUT

Hello all! So a few days ago I decided I would two strand twist my hair and see how it came out. Well as you can see, it came out very defined and laid exactly the way I wanted it to. I decided where I wanted my part to be and started twisting.

When twisting you have to twist the hair in the direction you want it to lay. The twists near my edges I flat twisted (to the scalp) to make them lay properly.

Note: When twisting your hair you need to make sure you hair is moisturized to get the proper outcome.
The LOCK & SEAL Method  -Apply to each twist
                         1.) Water
2.) Cream base (leave in lotion)
3.) Oil (to seal your ends)

At Night I wore a SATIN CAP to protect my hair from frizz, dryness, and breakage. You can buy one at the dollar store, beauty supply etc.
The next day:
I rubbed a very small portion of Jamaican black castor oil on my hands, mainly at the finger tips, and began Un-twisting. A few of the pieces were a bit to chunky so I just split them into two's or three's to add some volume and then pick it out. At night you could throw on your satin cap and rock it the next day!

The SATIN Cap

Hello! Hey! Hi! How yuh doin? Did you know wearing a satin scarf or bonnet to bed at night will protect your strands and retain moisture. It will help your curls stay shinny and protect you from split ends. Love to accesorize? Beanies and hats tend to play a big role during winter days. Type 4 hair can easily tangle into fabrics such as cotton or yarn and dry out your moisture you took all morning to apply. While wearing your beanies wear your satin scarf or cap underneath. Satin is a very soft fabric, so pin your headwear down so you dont have any embarrassing moments when your out and about. Until next time Ladies andGents...Stay natural!

Dusting your ends!!

Clean up time? Every so often we all must clip our ends to get rid of split ends. There is a new term I just learned, Dusting. No not dusting the book shelf, but dusting the ends of your hair strands.
Step 1: Get a pair of HAIR scissors, that's very important for the safety of your hair. Using your basic household scissors can damage your ends even more.

Step 2:  Section your hair and two strand twist your hair until you reach the ends. If the ends don't curl and lock into it self usually the thinner part should be snipped.

Step 3. Take your Hair scissors and snip the end of your two strand twist continue all around the head (ONLY IF NEEDED )
DONE!!                                                                            Enjoy your happy, healthy hair! Until next time Ladies and Gents...Stay Natural!! <3

Trying SULFATE FREE Shampoo (Organix)

Hey! So, Ive been trying the co-wash method and Ive have my pros and cons. First off, what is co-washing? Co-washing is a mixture of essential oil, (olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, argon oil what ever you prefer) and conditioner. Shampoo is not used, some people use other shampoos or soaps like African black soap or a mud wash to cleanse the scalp.

Co-wash Pros: My hair is constantly moisturized and easy to detangle by hand or comb.
Co-wash Cons: Build up on the Scalp after a while from using product in my hair. (NOT dandruff. Dandruff is dry scalp.)

These two products are by Organix aka Ogx. These shampoos are each sulfate free and smell pretty nice. Im leaning more towards the "thick and full" to help with my problem area (Crown). They are 13fl oz. and were  each $5.74  from Walmart. They have plenty of choices to choose from they blew me away with the amount of product they had on one shelf just by this company. So have fun trying these new products with me. If you have used these products leave a comment and give your opinion. Until Next time Ladies and Gents stay natural!

I originally planned to keep them in for two weeks but from what I'm seeing, that might not happen. I'll keep you all updated on my hair and its mood. Until next time Ladies and Gents DONT FORGET TO COMMENT <3

What you need to know about type 4 hair.

Information from www.Blacknaps.org
The type 4 hair patterns range from a spiral curl to a tighter curl with almost no definition. For us kinkier queens we don't have very much space between our curls. Our pattern is very tight and open to hair breakage and dryness. 4b and 4c hair don't hold water very well, because of all the bends and turns we have, make it that much hard for moisture to glide down our hair strands. To keep moisture in try protective styling such as buns, braids, and twists. Protective styling is focusing on hiding the ends of your hair and little manipulation of your hair. Our hair has a cotton texture to it and can look dry when its already moisturized. All curly hair types benefit from a moisture rich regimen. Washing and conditioning (or CO-WASHING/PRE-POO) your hair once a week is a good rule to remember (in colder temperatures. Doing protective styles, balancing protein products and moisturizing  products, and trimming as needed will improve or maintain the health of your hair. Remember no two heads of hair are alike. Leave combs and brushes alone for a while, try finger de-tangling. Its time consuming but better when it comes to having fragile hair. I hope I helped you guys out.
PS: If I left anything out that others should know LEAVE A COMMENT <3

My DIY Two Strand Twists

After a good Co-wash and Deep Treatment hair masque by Cantu Shea butter I let my hair air dry with a
T-shirt until it was 80% dry. Every twist I applied a spritz of Anunaturals  (Just water lock and seal kit) and a generous amount of Cantu Shea butter's ( Grow strong strengthening treatment  ). This was my second time trying to do this on my own. It took me almost 4 hours but of course I took a few breaks in between. You can follow Anunaturals on intagram @Anunaturals I won a little raffle with them and they sent it to me in the mail I use it every morning <3

At Night ( FRO care) For the lazy chick

At Night
I use the Pineapple method
-Fold your scarf into a triangle
-Push you hair up in the back
-Place the wide end of the scarf at the nape of your neck
-Pull the ends of the scarf to the front
-Either tie in the front or the back (my scarf is long enough to wrap around twice)
BOOM Pineapples all around!!!

Hair Styling

Hair Styles

Women with 4abc coily/kinky hair as myself, have very little curl definition and lot’s of frizz.  Loose styles (afros and twist outs) don’t maintain moisture as well as braided or twisted styles do.  Type 4 hair also holds twists and braids with ease, no barrettes or bands are needed at the ends of the hair.
Women with 3abc coily/curly hair have lot’s of curl definition. Loose styles can maintain moisture, but braided and twist styles don’t hold as easily, tending to loosen and become frizzy sooner.

Hair Care 4abc & 3abc

Hair Care

Women with 4abc coily/kinky hair, have to moisturize frequently! When we don’t our hair is greatly effected by the lack of moisture. There are many who must moisturize on a daily basis.  Oils and butters absorb into the hair strand very easily.  Less washing is recommended to maintain moisture into the hair. But some wash once a week ( I DO )
Women with 3abc coily/curly hair don’t need as much moisturizing, but all hair needs moisturizing and type 3 curlies are no exception.  The difference when it comes to type 3′s, is that if she moisturizes too often or if she uses heavy moisturizers, her hair will be heavy, weighed down and oily.  Frequent washing may be needed to control the moisture levels in her hair, this is especially true for type 3a.

UN-HAPPY DRY HAIR

So recently my hair has been very angry with me! I hadn't washed my hair in almost 3 weeks. I usually wash or pre-poo (pre-shampoo) my hair every week on Sunday. I wasn't home so I didn't have my normal shampoo and conditioner, so I used what I had at the time (Suave Naturals juicy green apple shampoo). When I rinsed it out of my hair, it made my hair feel really frail and extremely vulnerable. After allowing my hair air dry in afro puffs I noticed no matter what I did I wasn't able to style my hair. Even after a good pre-poo my hair was still being stubborn. I was unable to de-tangle like I wanted to. Sunday night I went out to Mijers and got Cantu Shea butter's Deep treatment masque. My hair felt so strong and alive again. It felt un-breakable and amazing I really recommend this product.
TWO THUMBS UP!!

My "GO-TO" hairstyle

This is my go-to style you guys!
-You part the from section of your hair starting at each temple
-Place and ponytail holder around the parted hair
-Push the back of your hair up
-Make scarf into a triangle shape
-Place the wide part of the scarf and the back of he head pushing the hair up
-Pull ends of the scarf behind the hair thats parted in the front
- Tie a knot
-Remove the parted hair at the front of your head
BOOM YOUR DONE
Enjoy!

My Hair Story

Hey curls! So I figured id tell you all my story, everyone has one believe it or not. My hair was a little before shoulder blade length, black & gray and extremely thick. My hair would break combs and brushes, a beast! At the ripe age of 12 I got my first perm.( DUN DUN DUUUN ). I loved being able to run my fingers through my hair, felt so "mature". Before my mom would keep my hair in pigtail twists and braids. Not knowing they were protective styles. I didn't really have any problems until about a year later at age 13 right before I started the 9th grade. My mom was having some hair issues of her own. Her hair was coming out or, shedding really bad I cant exactly remember but...she cut my hair right above shoulder length.  I was so mad, no more buns, and high ponytails for me. My hair began to grow back slowly but surly. When I started high school I was able to finally throw my hair in a ponytail and head to class. at the end of 2009 my mom let me rinse (dye) my hair brown. My best friend and I had made plans to go out  a and she came up with the idea of getting matching long draw-string ponytails. But I was given and ultimatum, either press my hair with a stove-top pressing comb or get a perm. I was terrified of the pressing comb! So of course, I went with the perm. Worst decision of my life, paying attention to the type of perm we grabbed I was bringing home a hair killer. I sat in the chair and let my best friends mom apply the perm. She told me to jump in the shower and wash out the perm. I had never done it before on my own, I into the shower and and began to rinse my hair out. I closed my eyes tightly not wanting to burn my eyes with the harsh chemical. when i was to the center to the center of my hair i pulled my hand away and felt a weired texture. I opened my eyes and i had a hand FULL of hair!! I screamed NO!! and ran my hands through my hair quickly and every time I pulled my hand away more hair came out! I jumped out of the shower butt ass naked and ran into the kitchen where my best friend and her mom were. Screaming and sobbing my best friends aunt came to my rescue. She covered me with a long towel and rinsed the remainder or the perm out. When it was all over, my hair was dry and very thin. The rest of my high school years I HATED my hair. I wore hats everywhere I went just to hide my thin hair. I wasn't bald but I felt I might as well cut it all off. I graduated in June of 2012, even after graduating I still wasnt happy with my hair. August 11th 2013 I made my mind up go just do the natural thing. I walked out the house with an Afro puff and never turned back.
